Savannah Loses Game 1 of Championship Series
Savannah lost the first game of the South Atlantic League Championship series to Hagerstown 6-1. Luis Cessa started and allowed 3 runs over 5 innings with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless inning to keep the Gnats close, but a Jeff Reynolds RBI single in the top of the 7th is the only run the Gnats could score. Estarlin Morel gave up 3 runs in the 8th to put the game out of reach. Savannah had just 4 singles in the game. Game 2 is Tuesday in Hagerstown. Seth Lugo is listed as the starter for the Gnats. He made 7 starts in Brooklyn this season and 5 for Savannah. In those 5 starts, Lugo had a 2.53 ERA, a WHIP under 1, and 39 strikeouts in 32 innings. It's not a must-win game in a 5-game series, but the Gnats would prefer to be tied 1-1 heading into the final 3 games of the series, all at home.
